Banks mortgage and foreclosure help
Numerous banks, lenders, and other financial institutions are taking the initiative to provide mortgage and foreclosure help on their own. Many banks, lenders and other financial institutions are announcing new mortgage assistance programs monthly. It is often times in the banks and lenders best interests to work with a homeowner whenever possible to refinance or modify a mortgage as it will usually limit the banks loss if they can come to an arrangement that is best for both parties. Some of these programs include :
Citigroup has launched an extensive plan. They will be providing mortgage help and foreclosure assistance to over 500,000 homeowners across the country in an effort to stop foreclosures and to help homeowners stay in their homes. In addition, Citigroup has launched an innovative program to provide additional mortgage assistance to the unemployed. More
Countrywide, now owned by Bank of America, also has launched their own plan to provide foreclosure and mortgage help to over 400,000 customers. Most of those experiencing problems with paying their mortgage had questionable mortgages issued to them by Countrywide. More.
In addition, Countrywide has also settled lawsuits with over 20 states, in which they will provide over $8 billion to modify mortgage. Continue.
Military, civilian, and former military members can receive mortgage assistance from the Department of Defense Homeowners Assistance Program (HAP). The federal government has provided over $500 million additional dollars to the program. Read on.
JP Morgan has committed to helping over 400,000 with a $70 billion mortgage and foreclosure assistance plan. More.
Regions Bank started a program several months ago that has helped thousands of homeowners across the country avoid foreclosure through a program called the Customer Assistance Program. More.

Wells Fargo, the new owners of both Wachovia and Golden West, are providing aid to over 250,000 homeowners. They will help them refinance their mortgage. Continue.
